NEST Initiative Funds Visits for Latin American Alumni at UDE

(Spanish version below)
Participants get the opportunity for a one-week professional development visit to Germany in 2026 to strengthen their professional knowledge, exchange experiences, and to expand their network of contacts on topics related to sustainable energy, transformation, and climate-resilient urban transport. The program is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and aimed at alumni from Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Peru who have studied or conducted research in Germany and wish to further expand their qualifications in the areas of sustainable energy transition in transportation and innovation management. The focus is on practice-oriented Alumni SkillUps (ASU), which were developed in collaboration with partner universities and combine academic expertise with regional challenges. In addition, sustainable alumni networks are being established, and professional exchange is being promoted through digital platforms, specialized events, and pitch formats. All disciplines are welcome to enhance the interdisciplinary value of the initiative.
Moreover, NEST strengthens the University of Duisburg-Essen’s North-South development cooperation by sharing project findings with academic and international expert networks. In this way, the project contributes to the development of innovative solutions for sustainable transformation while also raising the UDE’s profile as a key player in international development cooperation.
