The FAUBAI Conference 2026 will take place in Florianópolis from 11 to 15 April, with the main theme “Internationalisation for a Multipolar World”. Organised by the Associação Brasileira de Educação Internacional, the event is one of the most significant conferences in the field of internationalisation in higher education and is aimed at experts and representatives from the sector. The University Alliance Ruhr will take part in the “International Partnerships” session, scheduled for 15 April at 10 am, with a presentation entitled “UA Ruhr as an example of a regional university alliance”. Registrations are open until 12 April.

The conference will focus on how Brazil can consolidate its strategic autonomy within the global scientific community without sacrificing international networking – and how new geopolitical configurations such as BRICS+ and South-South cooperation are reshaping collaboration between universities. The aim is to promote alliances that place internationalisation at the service of national development and regional integration, as well as to highlight Brazilian innovations and experiences.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Brazil and the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo are organising a panel on 11 April as part of the pre-conference on the topic of ‘Academic Mobility and Scientific Cooperation between Germany and Brazil’ and will also be represented with a stand. The executive director of the UA Ruhr Liaison Office Latin America will attend the conference and will be available for discussions throughout the event.

Further information on the conference and participation fees can be found on the official FAUBAI website.
