The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Technische Universität Dortmund invites applications for an Open Topic Professorship (W2) to be filled at the earliest possible date.

The professorship is situated in the field of resource efficiency and complements the Department of Mechanical Engineering’s profile in “Production Technology and Logistics and their Digitalisation”. The successful candidate is expected to further develop the research area nationally and internationally with strong academic visibility, to participate actively in collaborative research networks and partnerships within and beyond the TU Dortmund, and to engage proactively in the promotion of early-career researchers. A commensurate contribution to teaching within the department is also required.

The university is seeking individuals who have completed their doctorate with above-average distinction and who hold a postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or an equivalent qualification. Candidates should demonstrate recognised research excellence in the field of the professorship, evidenced by continuous international publications in established peer-reviewed outlets as well as experience in the successful acquisition of third-party research funding.

In addition to academic excellence, a clear potential for high-quality teaching and strong social and leadership skills are expected. A high level of awareness regarding diversity and gender issues, together with a willingness to participate actively in academic self-governance, completes the required profile.
