The University Alliance Ruhr is an alliance of the Ruhr University Bochum, the TU Dortmund University and the University of Duisburg-Essen. Since 2007, the University Allaince Ruhr has stood for technical and social change through cutting-edge research.

The UA Ruhr has set up three liaison offices to promote international cooperation. In 2025, the liaison office for the Latin America and Caribbean region was opened in São Paulo, Brazil. This office joins the network of the existing liaison offices for Eastern Europe–Central Asia (EECA) and New York, which is responsible for North America.
The UA Ruhr Latin America Liaison Office aims to strengthen academic, scientific, and innovative entrepreneurship cooperation between Germany’s Ruhr region and countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Located in the heart of Latin America’s largest metropolis, the office connects the three UA Ruhr universities (Ruhr University Bochum, TU Dortmund University, and University of Duisburg-Essen) with higher education institutions, funding agencies, companies, and other organisations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Its activities encompass promoting the alliance and its universities, strengthening cooperation through the support of scientific exchange, academic mobility and the event organisation. Furthermore, the office provides guidance to students, researchers, institutional representatives and research-driven entrepreneurs, looking for opportunities in Germany - and vice-versa.
With this presence in Latin America, the UA Ruhr reaffirms its commitment to deepening international collaboration and contributing to the advancement of knowledge from a global perspective.
