DAAD Scholarships for UDE Master Program in Development and Governance

The DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Program (Master's Scholarship for Public Policy and Good Governance – PPGC) is currently open for applications and supports future leaders from developing and emerging countries, who want to promote democracy and social justice in their home regions.

The program is funded by the Federal Foreign Office and offers the opportunity to obtain a master’s degree in fields of study that are of particular importance for social, political and economic development in the countries of origin of these young professionals. In the light of the principles of Good Governance, highly qualified graduates with a first academic degree are being educated in political science, law, economics and administration and prepared for future leading positions in the Global South. The funding also includes the Development and Governance master program at University Duisburg-Essen. The Master of Arts is primarily addressing students from developing countries with an academic background in social science and a minimum of one year of working experience related to the subjects of Development and Governance. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Social Science, Law or a related discipline, have a strong academic record and high proficiency in English.  Applications for the intake of the academic year 2027/28 at UDE within the PPGC program must be submitted until 31 July, 2026
