DAAD RISE Worldwide Scholarship Program offers internships in Latin America

Through its RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering) program, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports international exchange in the natural sciences and engineering worldwide. This initiative is driven by the growing demand for scientists and engineers with international experience in business and research.

German bachelor’s students receive a scholarship for an internship in a wide variety of countries around the world — including Latin America — and are supervised by local researchers. Students at universities in the Ruhr University Alliance (UA Ruhr) majoring in biology (including life sciences and psychology), chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, engineering, physics, and interdisciplinary fields can apply from October 15 through November 30 (11:59 p.m. CET) 2026 for internships in various Latin American countries via the DAAD’s RISE Worldwide application portal.

Among other requirements, applicants must submit a letter of recommendation in English from a faculty member in their respective department, as well as proof of English language proficiency at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

A total of 180 internship positions (28.3% of the total) are available in the following Latin American countries: Chile (39), Brazil (34), Mexico (28), Colombia (27), Ecuador (26), Uruguay (10), Peru (7), Argentina (4), Panama (3), El Salvador (1), and Guatemala (1).
